Lack of compassion and caring for guests

      rating10 Apr 2026

We had booked with this hotel for May this year. Due to the middle east war we have been unable to travel to Italy due to security concerns. We asked for a refund or postponement but to no avail. No concern or caring at all. Very cold hearted. I would not go within a mile of this hotel. If this is their attitude they are very uncaring and that would translate into the service you would receive. Andrea Pucci, Altro at Hotel Palazzo Vecchio, responded to this review Dear Paul V,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to read about your disappointment; however, we would like to clarify the situation. Your reservation was made for April 8th, 2025, not for May as mentioned in your review. Unfortunately, we did not receive any communication from you prior to or on the day of arrival. Our staff waited for your arrival until late at night, keeping the room reserved exclusively for you.We only received your message after April 10th, when the reservation had already been treated as a no-show. As the room remained unsold and no prior notice was given, we were unable to offer a refund or modify the booking, in line with the agreed reservation and cancellation policies. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we truly regret that you were unable to travel. However, we must also ensure fairness and consistency in applying our policies.Kind regards,Andrea and the Team

A good hotel for visiting Florence

      rating06 Jan 2026

Room was big, clean, spacious and comfortable. TV with all italians channels and a few international ones. Wi-Fi was OK. Breakfast was good for a 3 star hotel. Bathroom needs improvement. Balcony was OK with views over the city roofs on the 3rd floor. Balcony needs to be cleaned more often because it was dusty. Andrea Pucci, Altro at Hotel Palazzo Vecchio, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience and for your positive comments regarding the room, cleanliness, breakfast, and our location, which make our hotel a good base for exploring Florence. We appreciate your feedback about the bathroom and balcony cleaning. Your observations are very helpful and will guide us in improving maintenance and attention to our outdoor spaces. We hope to welcome you again in the future and provide an even more enjoyable stay.Best regards,Andrea - Hotel manager

      Close to the train station

      rating02 Dec 2025

The position of the hotel is ideal, very close to the train station and close enough to everything you want to see in Florence. Just make sure that upon arrival, DO NOT miss the driveway, because if you do, you will end up in the ZTL Area where it is forbidden to drive a vehicle unless you are registered to do so. The people will not help you, they will just stare at you disgruntled and call you names. The funny thing is that while walking around later that day, we spotted some other tourists who were stuck in the very same place we were.....We became just like the locals and watched them get abused. Hey when in Florence........The hotel itself is in dire need of attention, outdated by at least 2 decades, however if you can see past that, it is good enough. The CITY TAX in Florence is between €4.50 and €8.00 per person per night. Our stay was 2 nights and got charged €98 in cash for 4 people, when I questioned it, the concierge shrugged his shoulders and told me I had no choice if we wanted to stay there. I still don't know what the extra €32 was for. So be very careful as it is quite normal to get overcharged, it is Italy after all and getting ripped off is part of the adventure right? Our room had a balcony but the old twin doors with shutters are almost impossible to close. I would hate to see what it's like in winter with wind and rain......Anyway apart from that and from a blocked sink (which I fixed), a broken plug in the bathroom (which they did fix), and a shower with no curtain so the water flooded the whole bathroom with every shower, we enjoyed beautiful Florence because we didn't go there for the hotel. Would I return to this hotel or recommend it to people I know? Definitely not! Andrea Pucci, Altro at Hotel Palazzo Vecchio, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for staying with us during your visit to Florence. We are pleased to know that you appreciated our convenient location, just a short walk from the train station and the city’s main attractions. We are truly sorry to read about the difficulties you experienced upon entering the ZTL area. Unfortunately, the restricted traffic zone in Florence can be challenging for visitors unfamiliar with it, but we are always available to provide assistance and register vehicles upon arrival to avoid fines.Regarding the hotel, we acknowledge that some areas would benefit from renovation, and we appreciate your remarks, as they help us prioritize improvements. We are also sorry for the issues encountered in your room; our maintenance team has since reviewed the points you mentioned to ensure better comfort for future guests.Concerning the city tax, we would like to clarify that the official rate for three-star hotels in Florence is €6.00 per person per night, established by the Municipality. For 4 guests over 2 nights, the total amount due is indeed €48. The additional amount you mentioned must relate to other charges included in your reservation, and we are at your disposal to verify this in detail. We apologize if this was not clearly explained at check-in.We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and while we are pleased you enjoyed the beauty of Florence, we are sorry that your stay with us was not as comfortable as it should have been.We thank you again for your feedback and wish you all the best in your future travels.Kind regards,Andrea – Hotel ManagerHotel Palazzo Vecchio

      Good hotel in Central location

      rating18 Sept 2025

Palazzo Vecchio is an excellent hotel for many reasons. Friendly and helpful front desk staff, clean and comfortable rooms including bed, shower pressure is consistent and hot, impressive hot breakfast with made-to-order cappuccino, latte from baristas, very close to train station (2-3 min walk), and within walking distance to most major Florence landmarks and attractions. Only downside is the walls are thin so you can hear hotel guests next door when they sneeze or talk - this did not negatively affect my stay at all because I was busy most of the day exploring Florence & only in hotel room at night to sleep. By using earplugs, I slept throughout the night & was not disturbed by other hotel guests (and I am generally a light sleeper). I will definitely return to Palazzo Vecchio as a satisfied customer for my next Florence trip! No hesitations at all. Overall fantastic hotel Andrea Pucci, Altro at Hotel Palazzo Vecchio, responded to this review Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at Palazzo Vecchio. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our friendly front desk, comfortable rooms, hot breakfast with made-to-order coffee, and our central location close to the train station and main attractions. We appreciate your understanding regarding the room walls and are glad it did not affect your stay. Your tip about earplugs is also very thoughtful and helpful for future guests. It means a lot to us that you plan to return, and we look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Florence!Warm regards,Andrea - Hotel Palazzo Vecchio
