  2 star hotel! Bad experience

  My stay at this hotel was quite disappointing, and unfortunately, I would not recommend it to others.There were several issues that made the stay uncomfortable and fell far below the standard I expected:• No assistance is provided with luggage during either check-in or check-out, so guests are expected to carry their own bags.• The bed sheets were not changed throughout my entire stay even though it got dirty.• The towels were not changed daily, even when they were dirty and we expected fresh ones. Surprisingly, the used towels were simply folded and placed back for us to use again.• There were visible stains in the bathroom, which was disappointing in terms of cleanliness. The bathroom also consistently had an unpleasant smell.• Basic bathroom amenities, such as a vanity kit, cotton pads, and toothbrushes, were not provided.• The floors throughout the room were not properly cleaned. Housekeeping appeared to only make the bed using the same sheets while leaving the rest of the room as it was.Overall, the level of service and housekeeping was far below the standard I would expect from a hotel. Based on my experience, I would rate this hotel 2 out of 5 stars. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again.   Too much form, very short on function

  The room was very clean, but badly designed. The room was too small to house the heavy table which had just one chair. not enough room to move around easily. There was a clothing rail that was not long enough for a long dress to hang well. The safe was hidden in a small cupboard, which, when opened blocked the route from the bed to the rest of the room. The safe was directly above the fridge, the heat from which warmed the safe, which meant you had a small oven for your electronic items to heat up. The lighting was bizarre. One side of the bed had a bedside light, the other side had a hanging pendant light, far too bright.The television was very close to the bed and had a very piercing blue light that lit up the room (I had to put a band-aid over it to reduce the glare).There was a kettle and a few tea bags, however there were no cups.The entrance was very difficult and resembled a fire escape door, very heavy, then a passage to a small reception area. When I booked the hotel I also booked breakfast. Two weeks before my trip I was told that due to redecorating the breakfast area would not be finished in time and we could use another hotel, half a mile away, for breakfast.We know our room had been redecorated becase there was masking tape around the ceiling light fittings.I don't know what criteria they use to designate this hotel as four star, I have stayed in better budget hotels.   Great location for first time visit

  Excellent location. Was great staying at the hotel overall a very good experience and would stay again for the location. The hotel itself was very quirky and the fact it is as old as it is (since 1602) it adds history to it and made the stay very pleasant. We were a group of 6 including 3 children 11-16. Rooms we were given were 115 this was a quadruple room and contained a bunk bed and a double bed, other room was 411 and this was a double attic room with low ceilings. The rooms were nice and clean. Room 115 had windows but it seemed like a courtyard with rooms surrounding it and there was a lot of mess there so not much of a view. Room 411 had a small window but please be aware if you are taller then 5ft you might bang your head. Room 115 the sink was blocked for the first day then spoke to the front desk and when I came back in the evening it had been sorted. Just surprised that this was not already sorted as the cleaners had been into clean so surely they would have noticed it being blocked. The AC in the room wasn’t the best. We had booked the breakfast as part of our booking, there were a lot of options but just beware not everything was suitable for vegetarians would recommend that the hotel should put signs on the food items, my nephew picked up a yogurt and when he checked the ingredients using google translate it had gelatine in it. For me the breakfast wasn’t worth what we paid for it. Overall staff were very good at front desk, the breakfast staff did seem a bit miserable. Regarding room 411, we understand attic rooms have low ceilings and can be uncomfortable for taller guests; our building’s historic layout means some rooms are more compact, and we apologize if this was not made clear at check-in. For room 115, I apologise that the sink was blocked on arrival, the cleaners should have detected it, and we have reinforced our room checks to avoid repeats. We will also review the AC unit in that room to improve comfort.Thank you for the feedback on breakfast and the vegetarian options. We will add clear labeling for dietary information and speak with our breakfast colleagues about service attitude to ensure a more welcoming experience. We have passed your comment about the courtyard mess to housekeeping so they can keep that area tidier for guests.As our hotel is located in a historic building dating back to the 17th century, room sizes and features can vary considerably.   Very good hotel in the city center within walking distance of all the sites, very good service, excellent breakfast, good quality rooms, I recommend the hotel!!!   Nice hotel in the heart of Madrid.
